OVITZ is a technological breakthrough in optometry. While standard measuring devices examine the eye alone, OVITZ measures the lens once it is already on the eye, revealing the final optical distortions the patient actually experiences. Ours is the only clinic in Israel equipped with this device.
What are higher-order aberrations?
Beyond the standard prescription (myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism), the eye has subtle optical distortions called higher-order aberrations: coma, trefoil, spherical aberration. They cause ghosting, halos, blurred night vision, and a general sense of "unclean" vision, even when the prescription itself is correct.
How does OVITZ work?
The device projects a unique light pattern onto the lens while it sits on the eye, measures the reflections in real time, and builds a 3D map of every distortion. We send this map to the lens manufacturer, who produces a custom lens that neutralises the distortions, for sharp, clean vision.
Who is it for?
OVITZ is especially suited for patients with keratoconus, patients after LASIK or corneal transplant surgery who are unhappy with their vision, patients with irregular corneas, and anyone seeking the highest possible quality from their contact lenses.
