Keratoconus is a progressive thinning of the cornea that distorts vision. Early diagnosis and the right optical solution can preserve visual quality for years, and sometimes prevent surgery altogether.
What is keratoconus?
The cornea, the eye's front window, gradually takes on a cone-like shape, causing irregular astigmatism, blurring and light sensitivity. The condition usually appears in adolescence and progresses over the years.
Precise diagnosis
We use the Oculus Pentacam for 3D corneal topography, OCT for layer-by-layer imaging of the cornea and retina, and the I.Profiler Plus (ZEISS) for a precise profile of the visual system. Combining this equipment enables early diagnosis and accurate monitoring of progression.
Optical solutions
Depending on the disease stage, we fit scleral lenses (including for advanced keratoconus), RGP lenses, hybrid lenses, and sometimes Piggyback combination solutions. Fitting is done with personal guidance and long-term follow-up.
