Some patients who have had laser vision correction, LASIK or corneal transplant surgery discover that their vision is not what they expected, with blurring, ghosting, night halos and distortions that standard lenses cannot resolve. In these cases the cornea carries higher-order aberrations that require advanced diagnosis and a specialised fitting.
Why does this happen?
After refractive surgery or corneal transplant, the shape of the cornea changes. When the change is not perfectly uniform, optical distortions arise that regular spectacle lenses or standard contact lenses cannot correct. The result: blurred vision, light sensitivity, ghosting and halos.
Our diagnostic process
We perform a full corneal mapping with the Oculus Pentacam, an OCT scan, and real-time aberration measurement with the OVITZ Aberrometer, the only one of its kind in Israel. Combining this equipment lets us build a precise picture of the root cause.
The solution
Depending on the findings, we fit scleral lenses, specialty RGP lenses, or custom contact lenses that also correct higher-order aberrations. Most patients report a significant improvement in vision, sometimes for the first time since their surgery. Read more about OVITZ.
